Fife Schools ready to make a splash In Schools Gala
Fife school sport swimming association are hosting their annual Fife swimming championships for Primary and Secondary schools on Sunday 20thNovember 2016 at Michael Woods Centre, Glenrothes , KY6 2RD.
The Gala is one of the qualifiers for selection for the 2017 Twin town Olympiad being held in Boblingen, Germany so this an opportunity for young Fife athletes to compete in a multi-sport event against athletes from across Europe. It is a great opportunity which places even more emphasis on performance at the Fife Schools Gala so if you are in the vicinity get along and support these young swimmers.
Robert Greenhorn, Active School Swimming lead "The Fife Schools Swimming flagship event for 2016 is coming around again and is an opportunity for young swimmers to qualify for the Scottish Schools Championships and to swim times for consideration for Olympiad selection. We look forward to welcoming Fife’s elite young swimmers and delivering this popular and increasingly significant event”
This year the event has received a huge uptake from schools and hopefully will see pupils establishing good times in this Olympiad year. The association have worked hard to create a smooth system for providing information on the event and an online application system. In addition the team will be able to utilise the poolside display board and present results after each event. All of which creates a far easier system for schools to enter events and also a more professional experience for all our young swimmers at the event.
Alex Bird Active Fife School Sports lead "The swimming association has developed their event significantly over the past year and the team are working hard to provide the best experience and opportunity for young people in Fife. With this event and possibilities that surround it I hope the swimmers compete hard and enjoy the opportunities and experiences that come from the event and all that follows”
