Viewforth v KHS Report

Viewforth found it tough in their opening fixtures at the new Windmill Community Campus. Tuesday night saw them face a Kirkcaldy High School squad filled with pace and Pro Youth experience. The night took a 7-a-side round robin format over two pitches with both schools putting out two teams.

The pitch-one opener saw Viewforth start well, holding Kirkcaldy High School at 0-0 into the midway point. This wasn't to last as two quick goals saw Kirkcaldy take a two goal lead. Viewforth managed to grab a goal back through Rory Williamson but another quick response from a Kirkcaldy High School corner saw them regain their cushion. This didn't dishearten the Viewforth boys as they fought back to 3-3 with goals from both Reno Olaleye and Kierren Ritchie. A last dashed effort from Kirkcaldy could have seen them clinch it but an outstanding save from Robbie Carson, the Viewforth keeper, saw it end in a 3-3 draw.

The Pitch two opener wasn't to be so closely matched. An experienced Kirkcaldy side managed to keep the ball for big chunks of the game. A hat-trick from Jordan Tosh helped Kirkcaldy High School to their winning score line. The game finished KHS 11 - 0 Viewforth.

A tough night for Viewforth's first years but a lot of positives to be taken from their performances. It will be interesting to see how the team progresses through the season when they go to Kirkcaldy High School for the return fixture later in the academic year.
